Firm Expands Life Sciences IP Practice

ATLANTA – Meunier, Carlin & Curfman, LLC is pleased to announce the firm has hired Lizette Fernandez, Ph.D. Dr. Fernandez joins the firm as a Patent Agent from her previous role as Director of Intellectual Property at Zirus, where she managed the company’s patent portfolio and was involved in licensing and competitive intelligence functions. Earlier in her career, Fernandez was a Patent Agent with the IP firm of Needle & Rosenberg. Trained as a molecular biologist, Dr. Fernandez has extensive experience working with technologies related to transgenics, antibodies, antivirals, anti-infectives, gene regulation, cell signaling, receptors and diagnostics.
She holds an undergraduate degree in Chemistry as well as a Ph.D. in biochemistry, both earned from the University of Miami. Throughout her doctoral studies, Dr. Fernandez was funded by the National Institutes of Health to perform research in molecular endocrinology. Upon completion of her Ph.D., she conducted postdoctoral research and obtained a Master of Business Administration degree.
Dr. Fernandez will play a pivotal role with the firm’s corporate, university and research institution-based clients, using her extensive scientific background and business acumen to help them maximize the value of their patent portfolios.
